I had travelled at certain points of the world with my mouse.

It was no g0ogle maps/earth. That stuff is too old as if you are just looking at a real map or globe and then a picture book of places cam-ed on a copter, which is simply, B-O-O-O-R-I-N-G.. :D

If you haven’t getting enough idea on it yet, lem’me introduce to you, the Ovi Maps, from Nokia.

Nokia Maps

Just head on to, http://maps.ovi.com

The default map, zoom it, pan it, or you can even search for a place you want.

The Map View is just the default view you can see on start. Its just looking on a real map and with proper and actual size represantation. I just remembered my map reading lessons when I was into a cadet training. Well, that was history.

The Satellite View is the view that gives some sort of life on things you can see in a bird’s-eye-view.

The Terrain View, its just something that emphasizes those bodies of land and water.

Some Other 2D Functions

You can SYNC your favorites from your phone and access them right here.

You can leave something called a remembrance, on a place you had visited.

Name it! Yes you can! You can name a place to your liking. But we can’t cause we wanna do it in Philippines and currently, it isn’t supported yet.

Find yourself. :P anywhere you are, in case you’re lost.

Share it! Let them know that you’ve been going somewhere.

3D! 2D is a little bit less entertaining, though very productive to power users.

Lets get 3D: the more fun part.

Click on the 3D button on the right, and you’ll be sent to: http://maps.ovi.com/3D

Just download and install the browser add-on and you’ll be ready to go. Yay!

I was astounded by having a full sight of the earth outside its atmosphere. I thought it was real, then I pinched my nose, as to not get suffocated on an un-oxygened place. Good thing, I wasn’t really on outerspace.

You can rotate the earth with your mouse. You can now locate a starting point for you then start zooming.

But if you found it hard deciding which place to go first. Here’s something like picking a food on a restaurant’s menu. You can click the button on the lower-left and get access to 20 famous spots in the world.

Which wonder would you like to see today?

I, myself, really dont have an idea where to go for the start of my trip. So I decided to click on random places I never knew, just something my brain recalls it, being read on an almanac or a digest.

This view reminds me of the pre-installed game named City Bloxx on most Nokia Phones before. :D

After a place is selected or navigated, the environment is beautifully rendered as if it was getting painted, pixel by pixel, depending on how fast your internet speed is.

Ehem-ehem. I’m on HOLLYWOOD. :D as if I was seeing it live!

Every transition on each spot on earth is shown in an animation as if you were being shoot into the sky like a rocket. “Wooowwww!”

Then this is the Royal Palace! I had thought of visiting the Royals but just then decided to walk by the park, in search of people with Pink N8′s.

The Big Ben, just checking if my time on my watch and phone is correct. Hey! They’re different. LOL. Such a busy yet clean street here on London.

Still spotting for that N8, where it could be?

Then I had jumped to the Golden Gate Bridge. Whooops! Cars on my direction! Oh no! It didn’t came into a my mind that this might be dangerous. LOLJK.

The Blue-highlighted Silhouette man on the mid-bottom screen is responsible for toggling on and off the Street View capability.

Street View allows you to take a walk on that particular street you were eyeing at, simple as that. Yeah, it does really looks natural, except for the fact that people doesn’t move. LOL. Anyways, I just hope that more places would be walk-able on 3D in the future.

And that’s how I end up my short stroll around the world, just by riding a zero-wheeled mouse. :P

FUN! FUN! FUN!

I never thought, exploring the world through maps will be this good. The best 3D experience ever! All of this awesomeness, superb experience, and pure touch of brilliance, brought to us by Nokia OVI Maps Online.

This is my entry to: Find a New Pink N8 Using Nokia 3D and Web Maps.

So what happened on the search of the Pink N8? If I could recall it clearly, I saw a giant lady caressing it.
